Your A/C contractor license renews every year. So do the eight hours of CE.
Texas wants eight hours of continuing education before you renew a Class A or Class B contractor license. If you only hold a technician registration, you don't need it. This one is for contractors.
One hour is Texas law and rules. That hour is required every single year.
One hour is the A2L refrigerant transition: R-454B and R-32. New equipment, and new rules for how you handle it.
The other six hours cover EPA 608, electrical safety, airflow and duct sizing, heat pumps, and combustion safety, including carbon monoxide.
There is no exam.
You don't need a card to start, and you can pay whenever you're ready. Your progress saves after every slide, so do an hour between service calls and finish it tonight. Your certificate is ready as soon as you finish and pay, and we report your completion to TDLR within twenty-four hours. Then you renew at tdlr.texas.gov.
